Know what you're looking at
Is it a bedbug?
Adult bedbugs are flat, reddish-brown and wingless, about the size of an apple seed. Young ones are smaller and paler and easy to miss. Look along mattress seams, behind headboards and in the folds of furniture.
Drawn to scale against a millimetre rule, shown enlarged.
How did I get bedbugs?
Almost always by carrying them in. Bedbugs ride in luggage, bags, folded clothes, bedding and used furniture. Having them has nothing to do with how clean your home is.
What are the signs?
Small itchy bites, often in a line or cluster
Tiny dark spots on sheets or mattress seams
Shed skins or pale eggs in crevices
A sweet, musty smell in heavy infestations
Do bedbugs spread disease?
They are not known to spread disease. The bigger problems are itching, lost sleep, and skin infections from scratching, which is why it's worth treating quickly.
Chemical or biopesticide: which is right for me?
We offer both. Conventional chemical treatment works quickly on heavy, established infestations. Our biopesticide option is low-odor and is often chosen for prevention and lighter activity. We'll recommend one after the inspection, and you make the final call.
Can I treat them myself?
Store sprays usually scatter bedbugs into walls and other rooms without killing the eggs. A professional inspection finds every hiding spot, and follow-up treatment catches the eggs after they hatch.
Do you work with landlords and tenants?
Yes. We treat apartments and rental homes and can set up a prevention plan for a whole building.
